4 Month checkup

Eloise went in yesterday for her 4 month check up. She weighed 10lbs 4oz and was 22 inches long. This put her on the growth chart for the first time at 1-2%. Her head circumference was 14.75 which was still below the growth chart. The doctor said she is doing well. Her head control is getting better but she is still not able to completely hold her head up and still which indicates that she is not ready to start on cereal just yet. Most infants start trying cereal around 4-6 months. We will hold off with cereal until Eloise has better head control maybe around 5-6 months. The doctor asked about her eating and sleeping habits. I told him that up until around a week ago she was sleeping 8-10 hours every night but then she was not eating more than 16-18 ounces in a 24 hour period. Just this past week she has started to wake up in the night again to eat which allows her to get about 20 ounces a day. I told him that we can only get about 3 ounces in her at a feeding with a few 4 ounces if it has been a longer time between feedings. He told us that he want us to start trying to get her to take 4 ounces at every feeding even if that means forcing it a bit. So unlike Cecelia who had scheduled feeding, Eloise is doing on-demand feeding. I basically always have a bottle sitting around with us and try to get her to take some whenever she is awake. I am going to start tracking how much she is taking so I have a better idea on a daily basis how much she is getting. I think we can say goodbye to full nights of sleep, they were nice while they lasted , but Eloise is in need of the night feeding and if she wakes up she needs to be fed. Luckily she eats much faster these days and we are only up for 15-30 minutes now and usually only once a night. She is going very good, we just want to try to get her fatten up even more:) (so I wrote this yesterday and last night Elie slept from 9p-6a, we will see what tonight brings)
