Trey and I went out to visit our friend Matt in California. We left late in the day on Thursday May 12th. It was a interesting plane ride. We left GR on our way to Houston for a lay over then to LA. There were storms in Houston so our plane was rerouted a few too many times and wound up landing in Oklahoma City to refuel and then landed in Houston almost two hours after our initial arrival time. Luckily for us all flights out of Houston had been grounded and delayed so we did not miss our connecting flight which was not the case for the numerous people lined up at the service desk to get new flights. We final made it to LA around 12:30a their time, 3:30 our time. After picking up luggage and catching a cab we made it to Matt's apartment around 1:30 and we were exhausted and hit the bed for the night. On Friday, we were able to surprise our friend Tim who was in town for a wedding with his family. It has been about 4 years since we had seen him. We spent the day on Hermosa beach playing football, volleyball and just laying around. Friday night we got ready and headed to Manhattan Beach for dinner and a night on the town. Saturday morning we relaxed around the apartment. After lunch we headed down to rent some bikes so we could ride along with beach up to Venice Beach. It was about a 2 hour ride which left us a little sore:) The ride was beautiful and Venice Beach was very interesting. Lots of people walking around, street vendors and even street performers. We stopped at a local restaurant to eat dinner before getting back on our bikes for the two hour ride back home.

On Sunday we meet up with Tim, his family and some of their friends for a grill out by the pool.
After dinner we took a drive up the Pacific Coast highway to see Bel Air, Beverly Hills and drive down Rodeo Drive.
On Monday we were on our own while Matt was at work. We walked along the beach to Torrance Beach and then back to Hermosa beach for lunch. At night Matt took us to dinner at Sharkeez. We then headed back to the apartment to pack and rest up for our day of travel on Tuesday.
Our flight left at 8:30a and we arrived back at GR around 6:30p. The girls stayed with Grandma and Grandpa J from Thursday to Sunday at their house and then with Grandma and Grandpa K at our house until Tuesday. Grandma and Grandpa K brought to the girls to the airport to meet us. It was so much fun to see them when we walked down the hallway and have them run to us. Much better then when we left them at the airport and Cecelia was crying to go with us. The trip was so nice and relaxing. Just the right amount of time away from the girls. We were both missing them very much as the vacation was coming to an end.
