2 Weeks Old

It is hard to believe that my baby is 2 weeks old today and she has not even been home yet. Although we do have a been out look on when she will be home. When Trey went in this morning for the report he found that Eloise no longer had a feeding tube in her nose. They said that she had been taking her feeding for the last 24 hours and so they felt she did not need the tube anymore. She also gained another 2ish ounces and is up to 4lbs 6ounces. The doctor told Trey that she thought it would take Eloise longer to catch on to full feeding and that is why she took her off the caffeine. If she wouldn't have taken her off the caffeine we would have been looking at taking her home sooner rather than later. As I mentioned in previous posts, once they take them off the caffeine they have to monitor them for 5 days and if there are no episodes in those 5 days they can go home without caffeine or a monitor. So today was the start of day 2 which means Monday will be day 5 which would be the soonest we could possibly be taking her home. Now if she has any episodes between now and Monday it does not mean she can't come home just that she would be on caffeine and a monitor. As much as I want her to be home I do like the idea of her not coming home on any medicine or monitors. This also gives her a few more days to gain strength in eating and adding weight under the surveillance on the medical staff. It was awesome to hear the nurses say that she was on the "long range discharge plan schedule". Again this does not give us an exact day of when she will be released but it does look like sometime early next week as long as things continue to go well. Who knows at the rate she is growing we might end up taking home a baby close to 5lbs. This would be crazy since she was just under 3lbs 15ozs born and would have gained close to 2lbs in just over two weeks. I guess it goes to show that she really was lacking food in the womb and is making up for it now:)
Look no feeding tube and mommy gave me a bath today in a tub.

Wow, what a great update! She is so beautiful - how fun to have all the tubes gone and to put her in little sleepers! :) Can't wait to hold her!
