Francesca's Birthday

Checking in to our hospital room.  We had to be there at 1pm and was scheduled for a 3pm c-scetion.  They were a bit behind but I walked back to the operating room at 3:30 to get started.

Fran did end up spending the first night in transitional care.  Our delivery nurse, who had been with us for at least Eloise maybe even Jed's birth was holding her just before leaving for the night.  She noticed that Fran was having a tough time breathing so she brought her into the nursery to be examined.  The hospital was remodeling the floor where the NICU is on so the NICU had been moved to the maternity floor which was very nice.  Her oxygen was low and she was struggling to take breaths so they but her in an oxygen hood for the night and monitored her.  Unfortunately when the kids and my parents came up that night she was in the NICU and they were unable to see her.  Cecelia was very disappointed.  She had been very anxious all day about us being there as she still remembers when Jed was born and seeing me wheeled down the hallway about his delivery and then not being able to see me.  We told her she could come up on Saturday morning with just Grandma and see Fran.  She was brought back to our room Saturday morning around 9am.  She was doing much better but still had a few struggles during the day.  She did not go back to the NICU and by the time we were discharged she was good.  It is a pretty common issue with c-section babies since they fluid in their lungs aren't pushed out in the birthing process.
