Back to Reality
We had a wonderful week in Key West Florida. We left a week ago Sunday and returned late on Friday night. The flights down went very well. We left at 5:50a on Sunday and Cecelia slept most of that flight. Our next flight she was awake but did very well. We had our laptop with some baby einstein videos and she watched them for the majority of the flight. Our last flight was very short from Miami to the Keys and she fell asleep again. All of our flights were on time and shorter than estimated. Our ride home was not so good. Our flight from Key West to Miami took off late so we arrived late. We already had only 40 minutes between flights which was not reduced to 20 minutes and of course we had to go from terminal D to E. So we put Cecelia in the stroller and ran to the gate. When we got there they had already shut the doors but said they could let us on because they were doing some mechanical work on the plane. We got to our seats but our seats were taken. I had switched our seats to the window seats because Cecelia like to look out the window and it kept her occupied. I wasn't about to make a fuss about it since everyone was already looking at us for being late. Cecelia did not sleep like we expected so we had to keep her entertained the entire 3 hour flight. Baby Einstein worked a little bit but not as long as we hoped. At least the people around us commented that she did great on the flight, if they only knew how much effort it took to keep her content. When we got off that flight one of our carry-ons was missing. They had to check our bag at the gate due to us being late and not having room on the plane for it. They put it on the cart to go to baggage claim. With this not beign our last stop one of the airlines reps had to go to baggage claim, get it and then go back through security to bring it to us. By the time we got to our gate it was 7pm and our flight left at 7:30 and we hadn't eaten dinner yet nor had Cecelia had time to stretch her legs and get some energy out. I let Cecelia run around while Trey went to find something for us to eat. Ten minutes later we boarded out final flight. Cecelia had only had an hour nap for the day by this time so we figured she had to sleep. An hour into the flight she was still away and restless but finally she fell asleep with an hour flight left. Unfortunately, she woke up with 20 minutes left on the flight screaming and crying. She does not do well when she wakes but from a deep sleep. This lasted until the plane touched ground. There was nothing we could do to get her to calm down. The steward asked if she could get us anything but there was nothing tha could be done. I think we were fortunate that we had talked to all the people around us before she fell asleep and they felt sorry for her more than frustrated at the situation. So we finally arrived in GR but that was not the end of the story. We went to go get our baggage and of course one bag was missing. I had to file a claim and it was delivered on Saturday night. I also forgot to mention that I talked to my brother during one of our stop overs to discover that when he went to go pick up our car to get us he found the car battery dead and one tire was flat. Trey and I realized when we got home and thought back to our trip coming home that we were not suppose to come home yet!!!
Other than the trip home we had a wonderful time. Cecelia is definetely a water rat. She loved the pool. We were all so relaxed which was just what we needed. Here are some pictures and a video.
