Interesting Weekend

For the last year or so we have had our house on the market.  We all know that selling a house in this market is not the easiest or even the smartest idea.  The problem is that when we purchased this house we never intended to stay here.  We bought it as an investment with the idea of making a few changes and then selling it for a profit.  Well we never expected the housing market to do what it did.  The biggest reason I did not want to stay here for a long time is do to the layout of the house.  It works for us right now but if our family was any bigger I would not know where to put the kids.  We have the master bedroom and another bedroom on the main floor where Cecelia sleeps right now.  The other bedrooms are downstairs which is a walkout and has access to the garage so I am not comfortable putting little kids down there.  So over the past year we have gone back and forth on selling or remodeling.  We thought we would try to sell first and then go from there.  Well a year later, lots of showings but no offers, not even low ball offers we decided to pull the trigger and just remodel.  We meet with my Uncle Jim this weekend, he is a home builder and does a lot of remodels, and decided to start ASAP.  So with the decision being done they will start construction at the end of this week.  This means packing up everything in our upstairs which is our entertainment/playroom and our basement which is our office/guest room/storage and living on just the main floor.  So I will be very busy this week trying to get all of this stuff packed and put away.  We had a POD delivered today so that we could store anything we didn't need including furniture.  The construction should take about 2 months so it will be a very interesting couple of months we contractors all around our house.  We are very excited to get it started and finished and to have come to a conclusion on what to do with the house.  I will post pictures of the construction process.
The other interesting item of the weekend is that I walked into Cecelia's room after she wake up from her nap yesterday afternoon to find her climbing out of her crib.  She about gave me a heart attack when I walked in which I screamed to Trey to get in there because I had my hands full of stuff and couldn't grab her which scared Cecelia when I yelled.  If I had not walked in she would had climbed over the railing and fallen to the ground.  We put her back in the crib to she if she would do it again and to see how she did do it and sure enough that was the first thing she did.  At this time the crib bed can not go any lower with the drawers that we have underneath it.  I am not ready nor is Cecelia ready to go into a toddler bed.  So this weekend when Trey gets time he is going to take the drawers out of the crib and low the bed down to as far as it can go which means taking the crib apart and drilling new holes in for the bed frame.  In the mean time Cecelia is sleeping in a pack n play in her room which is has not yet learned to climb out of but I wouldn't be surprised if she figures it out.  At least the fall would not be as high up.
So that is the excitement in our lives right now.

What kinds of remodeling are you going to do? Will there be a bedroom and bathroom upstairs now? I'm sure it will be interesting, but you have such a beautiful piece of land that it will be great to stay there!

As for Cece climbing out of the crib - oh yeah, have fun with that! Luke did that too - although, the first time we didn't catch him in the act - he just suddenly walked out into the living room and we were thinking, "wait a minute....we just put him in bed....how in the heck did he get out here????" I wish I had some advice, but Luke did it so much that we finally switch his crib to a toddler bed so he could get out in a more safe way....and then we had to close the door so he couldn't get out of his room! It wasn't the most fun stretch of time until he settled down about it all!

Our remodel consists of putting two bedrooms and a full bath upstairs and then gutting the basement to make a large walkout rec. room. We are very excited to see the finished product.
What age was Luke when you put him in the toddler bed?
