Merry Christmas!
Hello Everyone! God has heard and answered our prayers and has blessed us with Eloise Joy Kubizna. She came Christmas Eve day at 1:37pm. She was 3lbs 14.6oz and 17 3/4 inches long. Jodi is doing great and says she doesn't have much pain. The birthing process went very good, uneventful and very fast. After she was delivered, the team of doctors including the head of the NICU Dr. Winslow observed how she was doing and whisked her away to the NICU. After their initial assessment they felt Elie needed the oxygenated "bubble" to help her breath easier. She is breathing on her own, but she has to work pretty hard. Because of her labored breathing, they aren't allowing her any feedings by mouth. They are feeding her (now by umbilical arterial IV) with a total nutrition solution. They will continue to give her calories this way until her breathing gets easier and then start her on a couple ounces of milk to see how she does. They aren't able to give us a time frame of when she will be able to come home with us, but we definitely understand that she has to be able to breathe without so much work, feed on her own, show that she is gaining weight, and keep her body temperature outside of the warmer.
Jodi is anticipating coming home on Saturday afternoon and trying to get back into a more "normal" routine. We know Cecelia is probably looking forward to getting back into her normal routine and having Mommy and Daddy under the same roof.
Again, We would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers for this baby and our family. We have been overwhelmingly blessed with great family and friends who we know care so much about us. Jodi's week stay at the hospital and Trey's juggling of work and family were made much easier with the love and support of family and friends and having comfort that God is always with us.
We have posted new pictures of Eloise (Elie). Enjoy and Merry Christmas!!!

Praying that she'll be able to breathe on her own soon.
Love her up!
